The Australian Government’s Active After-school Communities (AASC) program is a national initiative that provides primary school children with access to free sport and other structured physical activity programs in the after-school time slot of 3.00pm to 5.30pm.

The program aims to engage children in sport and other structured physical activities and through a positive and fun experience, develop a love of sport that inspires them to join a local sporting club.

Only registered community coaches may deliver in the Active After-school Communities (AASC) programs. myBJJ instructors receive up-to-date training and accreditation with AASC, delivering quality sports programs to schools in the Sydney area.

The cornerstone of the AASC program is the involvement of the local community in the delivery of the program. This involvement offers opportunities to support and strengthen community cohesion and development.

Outcomes:

To engage children in structured physical activity.

To provide opportunities for continued participation in organised sport.

Testimonials:

Killarney Heights High School have been using Mario and the Team since 2009 as part of the Wednesday Sport Program.  Jiu Jitsu has been a popular and successful activity at Killarney with many students choosing it as part of the Wednesday Sport Program.  Students who do not usually excel in sport have found it to be enjoyable as well as students seeking a challenging or a change from their normal activity.  Mario is always friendly and incredibly supportive with the students.  He is very well respected and a credit to the company.  The most rewarding term was watching Mario and the team work with and support one of our disabled students.  She was able to access the activity and really enjoyed it.

The [myBJJ] Team ran a Brazillian Jujitsu workshop for a group of young people aged between 12-17 years old for a Leichhardt Council youth program, the class was great with all the young people enjoying the practicality and fun nature of the workshop. Moreover, I found the [myBJJ] team to be very friendly and approachable, and I would recommend them for anyone seeking a Martial Art school that has well rounded instructors and a professional atmosphere.

Working with Mario from the MYTeam Jiu Jitsu institution has been a wonderfully beneficial experience for the students involved. Mario has an exceptional ability to build the children’s skill in Jiu Jitsu at an accelerated pace. In only ten weeks, students have gone from novice to confident practioneers while creating an overwhelming atmosphere of happiness and excitement in the gym. Thank You for your contribution Mario.
